As you may know, Ganges is the sacred river of Hindus. People not only worship it, but depend on it for their daily needs. Ganges is also used as a “cemetary”; after the cremation of the deseased, the ashes are thrown into the river. However, some people (such as pregnant women, little children, holy men, the poor, etc.) and cows (as they are “holy animals”) are thrown uncremated into the river. Thus, coming across a floating dead body isn’t a rare thing.
